WP Adverts – PayPal Payments Standard Addon Introduction

PayPal is considered an absolute must-have in many niches, as it’s still the standard way that non-business people give and receive money online.

Customers don’t even need a PayPal account to pay via credit card, so you can see PayPal is perfect for any classifieds site and you really should have it on yours!

It used to be quite geo-restricted but PayPal is now available in 190 countries, so if you don’t already have a PayPal account you should be able to get one. Another great thing is there are no setup fees and you do not need a merchant account, though you do need a PayPal business account for automatic transactions (see How This Works below)

This extension integrates WPAdverts with PayPal for you, using PayPal’s standard system (PayPal Payments Standard, or PPS). This means things are very secure because all transactions take place on PayPal’s site, not yours. That’s a serious weight off your shoulders and onto the very wide shoulders of PayPal, and this is a major reason customers love and trust websites that use this system!

Since checkout is completed on PayPal’s site, you need PayPal to send your website Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). Setting up IPN is a simple affair.

With PayPal Payments Standard You Can

• Receive payments from anyone with a PayPal account OR a Credit/Debit Card
• Automatically process and approve payments
• View transactions logs in your Payments History panel

How does It work?

1. If you already have a normal PayPal account just ask PayPal to change it to a business account (free)
2. If you do not have a PayPal account yet then Signup for a Premier or Business account here  https://www.paypal.com/signup/account/
3. Install and activate PayPal IPN extension on your site and go to wp-admin / Classifieds / Options / PayPal IPN settings
4. Enter your Payment Name (the label which users will see), your PayPal Email, Environment (select Production) and then save the form
5. From wp-admin / Classifieds / Options panel enable Payments module and optionally make the PayPal IPN the default payment method (recommended)
6. Now every time a visitor posts an Ad in the frontend in the third step they will see a payment form, allowing them to make a payment.
7. Once the payment is made the transaction will be instantly and automatically verified by PayPal, the verification sent via the IPN and the Ad will be automatically approved!
